The Beaulieu Family Quiz Night hosted by the school’s Matric Dance Committee took place on 9 April with one lucky team winning R1 000.
The night saw 15 teams take part and go head-to-head in five rounds of 10 questions each. The questions ranged from general knowledge to pop culture and geography. The night started with Trivia 51 quizmaster Damian Schmidt giving everyone a rundown of the rules which included no cell phone usage.

Facilitator and organiser of the quiz night, Jacqui Smith told the Fourways Review that the quiz night was to raise more funds for a Grade 12 end-of-year function as the class did not have many final events to celebrate their last school year. “We always fundraise for our matric dance, but since Covid happened, that scene has changed so now we look to have matric dinners if we can. We need to raise a little bit more money so that we can do more for them,” she said,

“I think something like this will mean a lot to them as we saw with last year’s group, everything was taken away and we watched the spirit die in them and it became all about academics. It’s just something small to have them enjoy themselves from the stress to make it a highlight for them,” Smith added.

The Wolf Pack team was announced winners and took home the R1 000 prize, with Quizzical Intentions and the Cranes placing second and third respectively to win R500 and R250.

Smith said another committee of the school often hosted quiz nights during the school year to raise funds for the school but it was the first time the Matric Dance Committee had hosted one of their own.

“The prize money came from a group of parents in the school and they also sponsored the quizmaster as well.”
Smith concluded that the night was a success and that she was happy to ‘see them become kids again’ to help them release the stress from the academic year.

“They are growing up so quickly, and we need to see them having fun and coming together at school and chat about what’s happening.”
