Twenty-three arrested in Diepsloot operation

DIESPLOOT – Three suspects were found in two different locations thanks to intelligence-driven information supplied to the police.

Three male suspects aged between 30 and 35 were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition as part of operation O Kae Molao in Diepsloot’s policing precinct on 25 March.

Spokesperson for Diepsloot police, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said intelligence-driven information led police to two different addresses in Diepsloot, where three suspects were found in possession of illegal firearms and live ammunition. “Two were arrested in Ext 11, where one suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and the other in possession of live ammunition.

“The third suspect was arrested in Ext 5 for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.” Other successes from the operation included arrests for common assault and grievous bodily harm under domestic violence, selling liquor without a licence, fraud and illegal gambling. Mathebula concluded, “The operation achieved a total of 23 arrests.

“All suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.”
