Dozens arrested in operation

DOUGLASDALE – Suspects are to appear in the Randburg Magistrates' Court after arrest by police.


Douglasdale police together with JMPD arrested 45 suspects in joint operations from 15 to 18 March.

The suspects were arrested for crimes such as attempted house robbery, fraud, possession of drugs, armed robbery, reckless and negligent driving and possession of a dangerous weapon. There were also arrests for common assault, possession of suspected stolen property, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, housebreaking and theft, and shoplifting.

Spokesperson for the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane explained, “The arrest of the suspects is an indication that the police are determined to ensure that the community of Douglasdale is safe.”

The arrested suspects are to soon appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court. Community members are encouraged by the police to keep reporting all criminal activities in their areas by phoning the police on 011 699 1300/1320 or on 08600 10111. Alternatively, community members can use the MySAPS to send anonymous tip-offs or go to the nearest police station.
