Blue Hills College begins their academic year

MIDRAND – Systems are ready to engage learners who may not be attending physical schooling at Blue Hills College.

Blue Hills College shared their plans to avoid the spread of the coronavirus when resuming classes on 1 February.

According to principal Bhekithemba Ndlovu, the school’s management agreed that there would be a phased opening approach. Group one, which consists of Grade 12, Grade 11 and Grade 8 learners, will attend physical schooling from 1 February.

Group two, made up of Grade 9 and 10 learners will open a week later, on 8 February.

Ndlovu added that the school would follow the physical schools’ platooning time table which means that from 1 February Group 1 learners would be attending on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the second group of learners would attend virtually on their first week of opening before attending physically on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 February.

“There are learners who may not come to physical schooling for various reasons, our systems are ready to engage learners in the class together with those attending from home.

“If a learner will not be attending physically, a link would be sent through the social media groups for parents to indicate. Grade heads would be monitoring registers closely for both learners attending physically and virtually.”

Ndlovu concluded that as they would be attending school, parents are advised to ensure that learners avoid travelling and stay home. “The virus thrives in movements and if learners avoid movements, we can have a peaceful term. All other issues on managing academic systems in a Covid-19 atmosphere would be discussed in parents meetings.”
