ICYMI: Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club donates food hampers to Diepsloot orphans

DIEPSLOOT – Members of Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club visited the Diepsloot community to donate food hampers to orphans and vulnerable children.

As the country and global community were commemorating World Aids Day on 1 December, Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club and Green Hope Foundation used the day as an opportunity to give back to the needy.

Members of the Rotary Club visited the Diepsloot community to donate food hampers to orphans and vulnerable children.

Before handing out food parcels to the beneficiaries, Rotary Club president, John McCallum outlined the organisation’s projects and campaigns and thanked everyone for making the food parcels distribution event a success.

“I would like to thank everyone present here for gracing this event. Our organisation and all its members are committed in making a positive contribution to the communities. As the world commemorates World Aids Day today, we decided to use this day as an organisation that cares, to remember those directly and indirectly affected by Aids and HIV through donating food hampers to them,” he said.

McCallum also used the platform to appeal to local businesses and individuals to lend a helping hand by donating to the organisation.

“This is the little our organisation could do for orphans and vulnerable children who sometimes find themselves forced to head families at a very young age and support their siblings. We appeal to those who can, to lend a helping hand through cash donations that can be deposited direct into the organisation’s account.”
