St Peter’s College wishes their learners all the best in the year to come

SUNNINGHILL – St Peter's College staff reflected on the effects Covid-19 on the learners and staff but wished the best for their learners.

Coming to the end of 2020, St Peter’s College reflected on a year plagued with Covid-19, and how they coped with the virus.

While there were negatives throughout the year, the college still had some positives to list in an extremely tough year. Marketing and admissions manager at St Peter’s College, Nosipho Nkosi said the college had some positive feats.

“St Peter’s College has managed to keep the campus clear of Covid-19 with zero infections. We are also proud of our teachers, who in the short space of time, learnt everything there is to learn and still delivered quality lessons during the lockdown period,” she said.

With Covid-19 changing the ways in which the year’s regular academic syllabus shifting to online classes, Nkosi said the college was ready to welcome learners back in full swing to continue the year.

“Learners in younger grades continued to have lessons online, but the Grade 12 learners were back in the college. Lessons were recorded for learners who were unable to attend school for various reasons, including underlying sicknesses.

“All measures were put in place to implement social distancing, academic staff received training before the first day of school, and the returning students had received further training on the first day of school.”

Looking to 2021, Nkosi said there are some plans being developed academically for the college alongside welcoming sports and cultural activities back to the schedule.
“We are looking forward to the implementation of the blended learning model of teaching and the possibility of launching an online school. Plans are in place to get back into sports safely; and allowed by regulations.

“We look forward to bringing back out flagship events, the Old Petrians as well as the sports and cultural programmes.”

In conclusion, Nkosi said the school wishes the Grade 12 Class of 2020 all the best for the future.

“St Peter’s College has given them the opportunities, and above all, taught them that they can learn anything and do anything when they put in the effort.
“To them we say don’t let any of the bends or detours change your belief in your potential and know that the entire St Peter’s College staff is behind you all the way.”
