Councillor Mthembu sends his Christmas wishes to the Ward 96 community

FOURWAYS – Mthembu added that despite global and domestic economy meltdown that heavily affected a number of planned projects for the year 2020, there were positive things that were achieved by his ward.

As the year 2020 fast approaches to the jubilant Christmas holidays, Ward 96 councillor Sbusiso Mthembu has sent his well-wishes to the residents of his constituency.

Mthembu said year 2020 has been an extraordinary year full of challenges, mainly because of the Covid-19 global pandemic outbreak.

“Many people in the ward went to bed with empty stomachs as companies closed their doors to comply with the national government lockdown regulations. Residents survived through food parcels donated by various NGOs, national government and department of social development at the City of Joburg. Some residents lost their income as some companies could not afford paying some employees after a hard lockdown. However, we managed to break through though the fight against the pandemic in not yet over.”

Mthembu added that despite a global and domestic economic meltdown that heavily affected a number of planned projects for the year 2020, there was a number of positive things that were achieved by his ward.

“The positive news is that many projects which employed many people in the ward such as Cosmopolitan project in Lion Park (Thabo Mbeki) resumed very well and people are back at work. The fear was that Cosmopolitan might put the project on hold which could have had devastating circumstance for the residents and local SMMEs.

“To this end, I wish all Ward 96 residents and the entire region a peaceful festive season and merry Christmas hoping that the year ahead will bring good news for every one of us.”
