Cops praised for efforts in securing convictions

MIDRAND – Midrand Police Station are happy after multiple cases reported at the station ended up in perpetrators being convicted for their crimes.

Midrand Police Station has commended the good work done by their detectives under the command of Colonel Andrei de Klerk after working tirelessly to ensure convictions.

According to station spokesperson, Sergeant Matome Tlamela, for the month of October, until 19 October, there were dozens of cases in which suspects were either fined by the court or received a prison sentence.

“With our members being dedicated to their work, accused Sipho Mpange was sentenced to three years direct imprisonment for assaulting a complainant on 20 August last year on Whisken Avenue in Crowthorne Midrand,” she said.

Tlamela added that another two accused, Doctor and Hlayisani Kwinika were sentenced to four years direct imprisonment for stealing goods at a company in Kyalami last year.

“The accused were spotted by the security guard working at the said company after noticing that the accused damaged the perimeter of the company where they stole the goods.

“In another case, two accused Peter Tshabalala and Khathutshelo Ramabulana were sentenced to seven years direct imprisonment and were suspended for five years at work.”

Two other men were also sentenced for tampering or damaging essential infrastructure.

According to Tlamela, the two men were reported to the police by the manager of the security company they worked for on 28 January.
