Two suspects arrested for soliciting a bribe in Fourways are released on bail

FOURWAYS– The suspects who were arrested in Parktown after allegedly soliciting a bribe from Tsogo Sun's financial director are granted bail.

Two suspects who were arrested on 15 October for allegedly soliciting a bribe and impersonating officials from a company contracted by the City of Joburg as debt collectors, were granted bail of R10 000 in the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court.

According to the City of Johannesburg Group Forensic and Investigation Service Department (GFIS), stakeholder management director, Lucky Sindane the pair will appear in court again on 10 November.

“The suspects between the ages of 36 and 43 were arrested in Parktown for soliciting a bribe from Tsogo Sun’s financial director at Montecasino… It is alleged that the pair approached the hotel management company’s financial director and promised to reduce a debt owed by the company from R323 000 to R23 000 provided that he pays them R67 000. The financial director reported the matter to the law City’s GFIS,” he said

Sindane added that the two suspects were later arrested by GFIS and Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation also known as the Hawks.
