SUNNINGHILL – Residents are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings after man's cell phones stolen.

A man walking in Sunninghill near the corner of Egling and Simba roads allegedly had his two cell phones stolen by two men on 5 October.

Captain Bheki Xulu, spokesperson of the Sandton Police Station said the incident occurred around 7pm when the victim was on his way to visit his mother. “A common robbery case was opened at Sandton police for further investigation. No suspects have been arrested at this stage,” he said.

He added that people must be careful when talking or messaging on their phone while walking or at unsecured places.

“Police are warning the communities in the Sandton police precinct to be alert about the snatching of cell phones as this crime trend is happening all over the area, mainly in suburban streets,” said Xulu.
