South African Guide-Dogs Association gala dinner goes virtual

PAULSHOF – Residents are invited to support the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind by joining their Virtual Gala Dinner on 3 October.

The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind invites community members to support the association by attending their upcoming Virtual Gala Dinner event.

The online event is set to take place on 3 October, allowing locals to order their gala dinner experience to their door and tune in online for an exciting line-up of entertainment.

Event manager Jackie Quail said, “The Virtual Gala Dinner is replacing our usual annual gala dinner this year as we aren’t able to have big functions yet… This is our biggest fundraising event of the year and also the event that we most look forward to.

“It is something fun and different and obviously for a good cause. We are offering gourmet food, delicious wine, amazing gifts sponsored by Estee Lauder, Bob Martin and SA Guide-Dogs all delivered straight to your door. There will also be a show that all ticket holders can tune into on the night.”

Quail added that the organisers have tried to keep all aspects of the Virtual Gala Dinner very similar to the usual event.

“The viewers can look forward to seeing our awesome dogs in action, learning more about our orientation and mobility department, interviews with our clients and staff as well as some fun videos of our dogs having their own gala dinner.

“We will also introduce our viewers to our first litter of pups that were born after the hard lockdown regulations were lifted. We have a great line-up of South African artists performing as well.”

Pledges and donations will be taken on the night to raise additional funds for the association.

Quail said due to Covid-19 regulations and lockdown, many of the association’s events had to be cancelled.

“We had to rethink our marketing strategies to come up with fun and interesting ways for people to still be involved with SA Guide-Dogs but in a safe way. We have had a lot of fun coming up with new ideas.”
