Police investigate murder of couple

JOBURG– No suspects have been arrested so far.

Police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and house robbery following an incident which took place near Olifantsfontein on 4 August.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, a 57-year-old man and his 56-year-old wife were fatally wounded, while their daughter, whose age is yet to be determined, sustained serious injuries.

“It is alleged that the 28-year-old son of the deceased couple woke up to gunshots in the house,” said Peters.

“On checking, the son allegedly found his father downstairs with gunshot wounds to the upper body and his mother and sister upstairs, both shot.”

Peters explained that the sister was airlifted to hospital for urgent medical attention.A television set, two MacBooks and a laptop were reported stolen.

Peters said that no suspects have been arrested.”The investigation is under way and police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects to report to their nearest police station or call the Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111.”
