BLUE HILLS – Officers apprehended six suspects in two separate incidents.

Intelligence-driven police information led to the arrest of six suspects after a courier truck was hijacked transporting cell phones.

The goods in question were recovered in Midrand recently. Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said, “It is alleged that the security guards who were escorting the courier truck were shot by four men who were driving an Audi A4.”

In a separate incident, the Crime Prevention Unit spotted a truck parked on the side of the road in Blue Hills in Midrand. When police approached the truck, four suspects ran away and one suspect was arrested. Makhubele explained that the driver of the truck was found in the back of the truck.

The driver told police that they were hijacked in Alberton. The arrested suspects will appear in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court soon. Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the work by the Crime Prevention Unit police and urged the community to continue to work with police.
