Total confirmed Covid-19 cases in SA rise to 5 647

The Western Cape still appears to be the epicentre of the virus, with 2 342 cases reported.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa rose by 297 on 30 April, reaching a total of 5 647.

According to a statement by Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize, the total number of tests to date is 207 530, of which 10 403 were conducted within the last 24 hours.

The provincial breakdown is as follows:

  • Eastern Cape – 647
  • Free State – 116
  • Gauteng – 1 446
  • KwaZulu-Natal – 980
  • Limpopo – 32
  • Mpumalanga – 36
  • North West – 31
  • Northern Cape – 17
  • Western Cape – 2 342.
