Covid-19: Kolisi Foundation helps fight spread of coronavirus

The Kolisi Foundation has donated over 5 000 litres of hand sanitiser and over 3 000 masks to two hospitals.

The Kolisi Foundation, founded by Springbok rugby captain Siya Kolisi and his wife Rachel, have donated hand sanitiser and reusable masks to two hospitals.

In a video posted on social media, Siya said that they initially started the foundation to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, they have decided to shift their focus and help in other ways.

Rachel said, “We’ve come up with over 5 000 litres of sanitiser to support those that are really staying on the front line at the moment.”

The pair have also helped to donate over 3 000 reusable masks. Some of the items have already been delivered to Livingstone Hosptial in Port Elizabeth and Khayelitsha Hospital in Cape Town.

Rachel added, “We are so grateful to be able to support those on the front line, we don’t take what they do for granted and we are so appreciative that we can stay at home while they are sacrificing their home time to fight on the battlefield for us.”

Siya said that he hopes that young kids out there who admire the Springboks should also admire those who are providing essential services during the lockdown.

He added that brands such as Red Bull, Adidas, Roc Nation among others have donated to the cause.
