Ward 94 councillor David Foley is happy with the progress of the pipeline tie-in work on Percheron Road in Beaulieu.
The project is a tie-in between Crowthorne and Kyalami, with extremely deep excavation being done to instal a sewer line along Percheron Road. Councillor Foley said that previous concerns of safety along the road, due to the construction’s proximity to Beaulieu Preparatory School, have been addressed by the developer who has reinstated the road following the installation of each section of the line.

The developer hired by Johannesburg Water, Leogem Property Projects said in a statement, “We were tasked with installing the outfall sewer line on behalf of Joburg Water in order to service our development and the surrounding Crowthorne area. We are in the final stages of the construction of the sewer line with the last section of the pipe being installed.
“The project has been delayed due to hard rock and bad weather conditions. The rehabilitation process is well underway and Leogem envisages a smooth handover to Joburg Water.”

Foley said, “From the site visit conducted and the conversations with Leogem Property Projects, I am comfortable that good progress has been made with the reinstatement. During the heavy storms the excavations filled with water which were cordoned off.
“The project is nearly complete with only a small section of about 40 metres to do which ensures the neighbourhood goes back to normal which I am very satisfied about. This will bring the safety back to the original status.”
Spokesperson for Johannesburg Water Isaac Dlhudhlu said that the utility is currently not involved in the project at this stage, as it is in the hands of the developer, and will get involved when they connect the two lines together.
