Load-shedding moves from Stage 3 down to Stage 2

JOBURG – Eskom has reduced load-shedding to Stage 2.

Eskom has said that load-shedding will be moving down to Stage 2 on Sunday, 16 February.

The power utility said four generating units successfully returned to service last night (15 February) meaning they could shift load-shedding down to Stage 2 on Sunday (16 February).

It said in a statement that continuing with load-shedding will help restore emergency reserves including the hydro pumped storage scheme levels in preparation for next week.

“Implementing Stage 3 during the night has helped us to reduce the usage of emergency diesel reserves and restored hydro pumped storage scheme levels.”

Eskom added that should there be any change on the system and the demand they will notify customers, as the system remains constrained.
