Flooding expected in several parts of JHB

JOHANNESBURG – The Gauteng weather also warned that in the morning there may be fog patches which may increase poor visibility. 


The South African Weather Services has issued a warning of heavy rain in the Johannesburg region which could result in localised flooding.

The Gauteng weather service said a flood warning remained extremely high throughout today. This will last until 11pm this evening.

Areas that are at risk of being flooded include all areas next to the Jukskei River, Alexandra, Fourways and Joburg CBD.

 

Chief of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, David Tembe said recovery and public order police officers were assisting motorists who may have been stuck in the flooding. They have assisted a motorist on Betrams and Voorhout streets in Troyeville whose vehicle was stuck in flooded waters. 

Motorists are advised to avoid flooded waters and low lying bridges.
