Cop is believed to have taken his own life in Diepsloot

DIEPSLOOT – According to authorities, the 45-year-old man had an argument with his wife before he allegedly shot himself.


It has been alleged that a 45-year-old police officer who is linked to the Silverton police, holding a rank of a sergeant, was in his house in Extension 4 Diepsloot when he allegedly shot himself in the head, following a short argument with his wife this morning, 19 October. 

This is according to Diepsloot Police Station spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, “The deceased’s wife alleges that the deceased was intoxicated when he reached for his service pistol in the safe and shot himself after she had refused to give him car keys as he was intoxicated.”

He was declared dead when paramedics arrived on the scene, Mathebula said an inquest has been opened.
