Glitz and glamour in Bryanston

BRYANSTON – The young stars of the Figures Model Finesse International Bryanston branch got a taste of the high life recently for their social and graduation show.

On 6 October, some lucky students of Figures Model Finesse International, based in Douglasdale, got a taste of the high life when they graced the runway on a red carpet for the Academy Award Oscars themed social and graduation show.

The glitzy event hosted and arranged by Figures at Bryanston High School showed off the talent and skills of some new course graduates and honed the skills of the more experienced performers who were literally transformed into celebrities. The Oscars theme lent itself to amazing creativity and spectacle.

The energy and excitement were also tangible. The stage was a continuous swirl of grace, elegance, black and gold – feathers and gowns, traditional attire, suits and tuxedos, from movie characters to soft elegance, there was no end to the variety.

These very well staged shows with impressive fashion, decor, sound and lighting have become very popular for contestants and audience members alike and perhaps provide a few with some insight into their futures as leading international models and performers on a global stage.

Ryan Vaughn, the owner of Figures branch and a national agency booker said, “The show was a great success and our talented students dazzled the audience on the ramp with a black and gold theme and the all the set trends of Hollywood. Outfits were carefully thought out and put together – congratulations to all the involved parents and friends who helped with the creativity of the show.

“Well done to the students who graduated to the next level and to all our winners in the Mr Personality and Miss Congeniality who were voted for by their peers.”

The main aim of the show is to build the students’ self-confidence and self-esteem by having them perform in front of a supportive live audience. Talented individuals also qualify to enter the Figures National Student Model of the Year competition.

Winners in the Student Model of the Year competition win an all-expenses-paid trip to the Project Aim cruise in March 2020 onboard the MSC Orchestra Cruise Ship to meet over 20 International agents and then have a shot of winning a trip to the biggest and most prestigious talent convention in the world – International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) in New York July next year.

Figures will be hosting free auditions for the IMTA acting, singing, dancing and modelling categories at the Lonehill Shopping Centre on 26 October.

The National finals will be held at the Roodepoort Theatre on 1 and 2 February next year. The winners in the various categories of dancing, acting, singing and modelling stand a chance of winning an all-expenses-paid trip to New York, to compete at the IMTA convention, in the hope of being scouted and by an international modelling agency.
