JOBURG – The author of "The Lazy Makoti's Guide" to the Kitchen"encourages other writers to keep things indigenous as most of her recipes in the book are 'African dishes'.

The author of “The Lazy Makoti’s Guide to the Kitchen”, Mogau Seshoene is celebrating her birthday today (09 September). She decided to celebrate her birthday at the South African Book Fair with a live cookery demonstration and tasty treats.

The book, The Lazy Makoti’s Guide to the Kitchen” is made specifically for working women who have to juggle work and feeding their families.

“I love language, and food plays a big role in most aspects of our lives. There is just that warmth from a woman as she makes food with love” said Seshoene.

Seshoene said, “We as consumers must not negotiate with our mothers who sell ‘mogodu’ (tripe) for a certain amount, but instead support their business of making indigenous dishes”.

“If one can eat prawns and crabs then they can certainly eat Mopane worms because they all have nutritional value,” said Seshoene.
