Smile for the camera and help tails wag with joy

BRYANSTON – Morgan Brink of Neon Productions recently held a very special, doggy-filled photoshoot in support of Kitty and Puppy Haven.

Morgan Brink, the owner of Neon Productions, spent 11 August at the Bryanston Pine Forest photographing 32 families, one at a time, as part of her efforts to support Kitty and Puppy Haven.

In order to raise funds for the organisation, Brink offered families a 15-minute family photoshoot, including four-legged family members, if they paid R250 and also donated a bag of cat or dog food.

Brink managed to raise

R3 000 in cash along with R7 000 in food donations for Kitty and Puppy Haven. The funds left after costs were covered, as well as the donations, was handed over the donations to the organisation on 12 August.

“I decided to do something for charity because animals are important to me,” she told the Fourways Review.

“I chose Kitty and Puppy Haven because that is actually where I got my animals – I have two dogs and three cats, all of whom came from that shelter.

“I actually launched this drive on Mandela Day and loads of families contacted me, but we only had space for 32, so I’d like to do something similar again in the summer.”

Included in the fee was a 15-minute photoshoot, and participants will receive their 10 edited photos from the session in about two weeks’ after the photoshoot.

“I think so many people wanted to be part of the drive because images of your family are so important, and it was also a chance to give to a good cause.”

Kim de Freitas, who with her own family decided to support Brink, agreed with this assessment.

She, her husband Gilber, her two-year-old son Matthew and their fur child Rascal had their photoshoot in mid-morning on the day.

“We’ve actually never had a family photoshoot with Rascal before,” she explained

“I decided to be part of today because it is for such a good cause, and will also give our family a great family portrait.”

Kitty and Puppy Haven is located in President’s Park, Midrand, and cares for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens who have been abandoned and need new homes.

The organisation also runs a number of projects to help local communities care for their pets.
