Curro Castle Douglasdale had the honour of presenting their concert at Cooper College on 3 August to the great delight of parents, grandparents, learners and staff alike.
The concert, called Siyaya Sho’t Left was performed by the Group 3 to Grade R learners, aged three to six years. The name of the concert loosely translates to ‘let’s go’ and was themed around a journey through beautiful South Africa.
Learners were aptly dressed in traditional African printed skirts, waistcoats, bowties and head scarves. They were a pleasure to see on stage. Photographer for the school, Leana van Dyk from LVD Brand Brilliance caught the entire show on camera.
The concert was directed by Lisa Gurovich, who is the owner and music coach at Music-Box South Africa, who did a magnificent job along with the staff who rehearsed daily with these little children. The show had two screenings on Saturday, and both were very well received by the roaring audience. Favorite songs performed included Mama Themba’s Getting Married and Thunder, which was performed on African drums.
The principal, or ‘fairy godmother’ as she is better known as, Sonja Davie, credited the huge success of the concert to the teachers and assistant teachers at Curro Castle Douglasdale.
“I have never seen a group of pre-school children enjoying themselves like they did on stage today.” said Corlia Lourens, the marketer for the school.
“Keep in mind that these little ones have never been on a stage with sound and lights before. They conducted themselves in true stage actor fashion.”
