School for children who need extra attention

Assisted learning education applies to children who have average to above average intellectual abilities, but do not perform according to their potential as a result of difficulties with reading and/or writing and/or arithmetic.

The Bridge Assisted Learning School provides specialised education for Grade 0 to Grade 7 children with a range of academic challenges that have necessitated intervention, for example ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia, slow processing, poor working memory, auditory processing, sensory integration, trauma, dyscalculae, barriers to learning regarding Mathematics or English, slow pace etcetera.

Through small classes and individual intervention they are able to instil in our pupils, not only the skills, but the self-esteem that will allow them to take on their learning journey with confidence. This purpose built assisted learning school is situated in a safe and tranquil environment where the needs of our pupils have been taken into account from the design of the building to materials that were chosen.

Their ‘Ethos’ underpins all that they do at The Bridge.

They have a holistic approach in their pupils’ education where they strive to overcome the children’s specific barriers to learning in a multi-disciplinary, nurturing environment while still celebrating individuality.

In their journey with both the parent and the child, they honour a philosophy of a life-long love of learning using innovative teaching approaches to accommodate each individual, making it easier to learn.

Both assisted and remedial/special education programs are specialised, structured programs that are designed to help students who need extra attention to succeed. The target demographic and the delivery of the material vary between each specialisation, as do the certifications that you need to teach in these programs. Put very simply, assisted learning education applies to children who have average to above average intellectual abilities, but do not perform according to their potential as a result of difficulties with reading and/or writing and/or arithmetic. Whereas remedial or special educational facilities cater for children with extreme intellectual and physical disabilities.

Visit them during their open week 12-16 August. You will have the opportunity to see how The Bridge is changing and impacting young lives with their approach and it truly is a partnership in discovery.
