Sunninghill resident shines in Karate

SUNNINGHILL - Sunninghill resident Yolanda Kilian made her country proud earlier this month when she won the karate Zone 6 Championship Africa title in Namibia.

Kilian was competing under the senior ladies category and captained the womans team event, which went on to win gold. “The South African ladies team has not won gold for ten years, so we are really excited,” Kilian said.

The karate champion said she would now go on to compete in the Goju World Campionships, which will be held in India in December.

“I started karate when I was about 14 years old, so have been in the industry for about 25 years,” she said.

Other than being an incredible black belt Karate Champion, Kilian is also making her mark in the Body Competition industry.”

Kilian is the current Ms Universe and Ms Universe Physique. “I dont think the announcement has completely sunk in yet. I thought I might come third and when they announced me as Ms Universe, all I wanted to do was call home.”
