Man seriously injured after car rear-ends truck

FOURWAYS – A man was left seriously injured when his vehicle rear-ended a truck.

A man believed to be in his 50s was left seriously injured this morning (25 June) when his light motor vehicle rear-ended a truck on the N1 north-bound near the William Nicol off-ramp in Fourways.

According to ER24, the truck and light motor vehicle were parked on the left-hand side of the road when the emergency services arrived on the scene.

ER24 communications officer Russel Meiring said, “On closer inspection, medics found a man, believed to be in his 50s, lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle in a serious condition.

“Rescue medics had to use extrication gear to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed, medics treated the man and provided him with pain-relief medication before he was transported to a nearby private hospital for further care. The driver of the truck, fortunately, escaped injury.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
