Children get hooked on books

BEVERLEY – The children of the Bridge Assisted Learning School got a visit from the Hooked on Books team, who act out books and encourage youngsters to read.

The children of the Bridge Assisted Learning School got a special treat on 29 May when the Hooked on Books team visited the school.

The event, which was organised by teacher Linda Langeveld, saw the whole school gather to enjoy the visit and watch the Hooked on Books team perform dramatisations. Hooked on Books is a touring Educational Theatre Company that visit schools around the country and hopes to reignite a love for literacy among the youngsters, some of whom even got to perform alongside the actors.

The Hooked on Books team dramatise book-trailers from contemporary children’s books, which change annually.
