Five things to do this Human Rights Day

JOHANNESBURG – Today, 21 March is Human Rights Day, and these are the five places you can visit around Joburg on this day.


∙ Human Rights Day festival at Constitution Hill 

This is a four-day event, starting from 21 until 24 of March. Entry is free. Sjava, Sho Madjozi and Lebo Mashile will be at the festival. The programme varies from tours, music, film, art, photography and talks.

∙ Koppies 8km Hike
The hike will be for three hours, dogs are not allowed and only children over the age of six are allowed to hike. You pay R60 when you get there and the hike will begin at 8.30 where koppies’ gates will be locked soon after. You also do not need to make a booking.

Bring snacks for the midway stop, proper walking shoes, hat, sun block and water. More information about the hike can be found here

∙ Market / Open day Jhb Culinary and Pastry School

 This is a one-day event. There will be different stalls selling different food and the students of the school showcasing what they can do in the kitchen.

∙ Copper Bar in Bryanston has a cocktail night on Human Rights Day. The tickets will be going for R50 and under 18-year-olds are not allowed. Get your tickets here

CORE, GOGO Music’s monthly label-night – This event will be held at Kitcheners in Braamfontein. Various music acts will be present.  R30 gets you through the door and doors will open at 8 pm.
