Reddam House Helderfontein is so proud of all the learners from grades 7 to 11 who were elected as representatives of the Student Representative Council (SRC) for 2019.
After formal nominations, these learners had to present a campaign speech to their classes in which they explained their vision for the school this year. The class then had the opportunity to vote and, as a result, two representatives per class were elected.
The SRC values servant leadership and will be guided by the motto: ‘Leadership is not a position or title; it is action and example’.
The SRC members will:
• Have the opportunity to be trailblazers and to be part of creating new traditions and upholding the existing ones at the school
• Represent the thoughts and opinions of their peers in a weekly forum with all the other council members
• Have the chance to express their opinions about contentious issues that are raised in weekly meetings
• Report back to their classes on the minutes of SRC meetings
• Listen to their peers’ concerns and be the voice of reason when necessary
• Represent the school at various functions
• Instil school spirit in their class and grade.
The following learners were elected by the members of the Student Representative Council to fulfil various leadership roles:
• Kutluwano Makhubedu – chairperson
• Saneshan Reddy – vice chairperson (middle college)
• Rahul Naidoo – vice chairperson (culture)
• Khumo Kraai – secretary
