SRC starts the year strong

GLENFERNESS – The Student Representative Council for Reddam House Helderfontein has been selected and have a busy year ahead.


Reddam House Helderfontein is so proud of all the learners from grades 7 to 11 who were elected as representatives of the Student Representative Council (SRC) for 2019.

After formal nominations, these learners had to present a campaign speech to their classes in which they explained their vision for the school this year. The class then had the opportunity to vote and, as a result, two representatives per class were elected.

The SRC values servant leadership and will be guided by the motto: ‘Leadership is not a position or title; it is action and example’.

The SRC members will:

• Have the opportunity to be trailblazers and to be part of creating new traditions and upholding the existing ones at the school

• Represent the thoughts and opinions of their peers in a weekly forum with all the other council members

• Have the chance to express their opinions about contentious issues that are raised in weekly meetings

• Report back to their classes on the minutes of SRC meetings

• Listen to their peers’ concerns and be the voice of reason when necessary

• Represent the school at various functions

• Instil school spirit in their class and grade.

The following learners were elected by the members of the Student Representative Council to fulfil various leadership roles:

• Kutluwano Makhubedu – chairperson

• Saneshan Reddy – vice chairperson (middle college)

• Rahul Naidoo – vice chairperson (culture)

• Khumo Kraai – secretary

• Rhulani Mathe – sport representative.
