Fourways’ domestic workers celebrate a year of hard work with high tea at Hirsch’s

PINESLOPES – The domestic workers who form part of the Hirsch's Domestic Worker workshops were honoured with a special high tea to end off 2018.

Hirsch’s Fourways held a celebratory high tea party for the monthly winners of their Domestic Worker of the Month competition in early December.

“The monthly winners got the opportunity to bring their employers along to see for themselves what their domestics have been learning on a monthly basis at the courses that Hirsch’s holds. An overview was done for employers as to why it started and how it has grown considerably to where it is now,” Sharron Dingle, the public relations officer, explained.

“We also covered the upliftment and empowerment side and explained how the women are being encouraged to grow as individuals to be able to be more valuable in the workplace, to their families and the community at large.

“The various trainers [who worked with the domestics] were also introduced and thanked. Among the trainers was Adele Guthrie from Meet you Maid, Sami Gumbie our mompreneur as well as Warren Hastings, the chief paramedic from Life Fourways. Jackie Scott-Thomas was unavailable but she handles the computer courses and runs her company Comp-U-Train. Goodie bags were given to each of the monthly winners (thanks to the amazing suppliers Whirlpool, KIC, SMEG and Defy sponsors of Hirsch’s Fourways).”

The mompreneur Sami Gumbie; Adele Guthrie from Meet you Maid and Warren Hastings from Life Fourways were thanked for their efforts in training through 2018.
