Just last month on 6 December, Cedar Lakes, Steyn City, parts of Chartwell and Farmall were without water due to leaks after the Randburg depot located a broken 160mm valve in Cedar Lakes. The depot also closed water for Steyn City as there was a leak on the newly installed valve, the water entity said on Twitter. Farmall, Chartwell and Steyn City were all without water as a result. This followed after an unplanned interruption which disrupted much of Fourways’ water supply the day before on 5 December.

A few days later, a major water outage hit Fourways and surrounding areas on 10 December due to an unplanned interruption. The water entity stated, at the time, that it was investigating the matter and planned to provide water tankers to local hospitals.
