Young mongoose rehabilitates at Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital

KYALAMI – The mongoose had found refuge at PLG Mellow Oaks Academy School grounds which is based in Little Falls, Roodepoort.

 

A young, slender mongoose (galerella sanguinea) is currently being weaned from a milk formula and learning how to hunt for food.

The animal is being rehabilitated at the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital.

According to the hospital’s wildlife rehabilitation specialist Nicci Wright, the mongoose had found refuge at PLG Mellow Oaks Academy School grounds which is based in Little Falls, Roodepoort.

“Unable to reunite her with her family, she was brought in for us to care for her, and to prepare her for her ultimate release. Thanks to Penny Hardie for her assistance with this little mongoose.”

A young slender mongoose is being rehabilitated at Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital.

Wright added that they treated indigenous animals free of charge, relying solely on donations and support from the community.
