Fourways-based dance academy comes out tops

FOURWAYS – The young dancers of Natasha Academy of Dancing are flying high after amazing scores in three recent dance competitions

During September and October 31 dancers from the Natasha Academy of Dancing in Fourways out-danced the rest.

Girls from the newly formed studio participated in three competitions: The Acrobatic Festival of South Africa (Afsa) in late September, the Concours Dance Festival (hosted by the National Society of Dance Teachers) in early October and the American Dance Awards also in early October.

“For many this was the first time competing in a dance competition,” said Natasha Ehlers, who owns the studio and worked closely with the girls in preparation.

Chelsea Manson and Danni-Leigh Slater win first place for their acrobatic duet at the Acrobatic Festival of South Africa in September, among other feats.

“As the studio is fairly new [it only opened its doors in January this year], most of the dancers all have between two and eight months dance training only.

“All these dancers have performed so well, and we have had some outstanding results – our flag is definitely flying high.”
