The name Plaka is well known in Joburg – for the reason that they have been dishing up great Greek food to hungry diners for an incredible 25 years now!
This family -owned restaurant chain have launched a brand new and refreshed look to not only their menu but also to their flagship Cresta store. The refreshed décor and new menu pay tribute to Plaka’s long-standing philosophy of modern traditional Greek fair.
Plaka pays tribute to the old historical neighbourhood of Athens with the same name and the heartbeat of Greece’s modern capital on the slopes of the Acropolis.
“It’s this tapestry of traditional culture within a modern society that we continue to bring to Plaka in South Africa,” explains Angelo Haitas, founder, and owner of Plaka.
“We’ve designed our menus around the Greek way of life and Plaka’s ethos of “eating together”,” says Adel Nofal and Nishall Iswarlall, Plaka Cresta Franchisee Partners. “So, we’ve included a number of family meals – “The Family Table” is a selection of popular, hearty meals generously served with a variety of salads and side orders for family or friends to share whilst offering unbeatable value.”
Don’t worry – all your old favourites are still on the menu, like their mouth-watering calamari, pastitsio, kleftiko, whole grilled line fish, prawns and lamb chops. But are also some brand spanking new contemporary dishes such as honey-mustard pork fillet and a delicious family-sized portion of fisherman’s pasta that have found their way on to the extensive menu.
If you love Greek street foods such as yiros, souvlaki, and toasted pitas then you are in the right place for sure.
The bottomless soda is also a nice menu add-on and each dish has a magical dose of Greek tradition to make it authentic and delicious, and we are loving the Family Table menu right now – which includes dishes such as the yummiest Greek lamb chops served with salad and flatbread.
The restaurant décor matches the menu theme perfectly – think blue mosaic, touches of bright bougainvillea and softwood finishes, and even better you can take a piece of Plaka home with you, their delicacies including olives, olive oil, pastas, and more are available to purchase in store.
To book call them on 011 478 0392, and find them in Cresta Shopping Centre, Entrance 12.
