If you love books and reading, and love local authors, or are even in the publishing field, then the South African Book Fair is set to be a highlight for you.

Scheduled for the 7th – 9th September in the Newtown Precinct and is a unique opportunity for the book publishing industry to collectively position itself as a relevant, inclusive and important part of South Africa and Africa’s development. It is an opportunity to interact and engage with all links in the value chain, with government and the public at large.

There is loads to do for adults and kids alike – a hop on, hop off bus tou4r, test kitchen, The Little Prince Theatre and tons more.

South Africans from all walks of life will be able to access the diverse content produced by its world class book industry, listen to, mingle and debate with a wide variety of authors.

The South African Book Development Council (SABDC) is the representative body of the South African book sector and its members include key stakeholders in the book value chain in South Africa. SABDC members are representative of all sectors in the book value chain and our observers are the DAC, the DBE and DTI.

Their current areas of work are far reaching and extremely important with regards to book development in South Africa. Among the many South African stories that need to be told at the South African Book Fair 2018 are the stories of our publishing and related industries.

South Africa is experiencing a cultural revolution, and the Fair is an opportunity for the publishing sector to entrench itself as a relevant, inclusive and representative part of South African and African development.
