Operation impounds 16 taxis on Leslie and Witkoppen

In an effort to get commuters to abide by the road rules, Douglasdale police along with Metro police recently conducted a Multi-Disciplinary Operation on Leslie and Witkoppen roads.

According to the head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, several fines were issued for the contravention of the National Road Traffic Act. She also said that 16 taxis were impounded.

Tshetlhane added, “Motorists are alerted that such operations will continue throughout the sector.”

Spokesperson for the Metro police Chief Superintendent, Wayne Minnaar, reminded members of the public that if they have been unfairly treated by any Metro police officer, they need to call the Anti-Corruption hotline, which is a 24/7 hotline, on 080 0203 712.

He added that Metro police’s director, Sam Sethagu can also be contacted on 082 4112 430.

Minnaar stated that if motorists witness any Metro officer perform their duty well or if they know of an officer who went beyond the call of duty, then motorists can commend the officer/s at waynem@joburg.org.za
