Hirsch’s shows domestics how to cook and compute

PINESLOPES – At the recent Fourways Domestic Club at Hirsch's, domestic workers got the chance to learn how to cook and use a computer.

It was a day of learning on 25 August during the Fourways Domestic Club meeting, with both computer lessons and cooking lessons given to domestic workers in the area.

Hirsch’s Fourways held their monthly Domestic Club with the popular Jackie Scott-Thomas of Comp-U-Train, who facilitated a computer workshop.

“This part of the network has grown in leaps and bounds,” said Sharron Dingle of the store.

“For those whose interests lie in cooking, we tackled two different kinds of breakfasts. Adele Guthrie from Meet your Maid showed them how you can make layered oats, fruit and yoghurt in a bottle the night before so that you can have an easy, delicious and healthy breakfast on the go. She also showed them variations like smoothies. The omelette in a bag was a great hit as it is quick, easy and presents very little cleaning up.

“The purpose of this club is to enable domestic workers who are unable to make our Thursday meeting to also attend a meeting when they are off.”
