A 51-year-old man found noted on the high priority list by the South African police for business robberies has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.
According to Sandton Police Station‘s Captain Granville Meyer, Thomas Ax from Vereeniging was indicative as high priority and was placed by the police on investigations into priority crimes, such as robberies, some of which were in the Sandton Policing Precinct.
“Computer equipment to the value of R738 000 was stolen. The accused was then positively identified during an identification parade.”
Meyer explained that on 21 August, the accused was sentenced to 15 years’ direct imprisonment for business robbery. “Detective Constable Aubrey Tshisani was also congratulated by the Alexandra Regional Court for his sterling work during the investigation of this case.”
He explained that the outcome of this case was well received by the station management who congratulated the investigating officer in ensuring a conviction.
“It is very important for community members to work hand-in-hand with the police in the fight against crime. We urge you to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.”
