TAKE NOTE: Mall of Africa declared safe following bomb threat

MIDRAND – A complete evacuation is currently taking place at Mall of Africa today, 29 August.

5pm on Wednesday, 29 August:

Just after 4.30pm today, Wednesday 29 August, the management at the Mall of Africa issued a statement confirming that the mall was ‘declared safe and cleared for use’. Normal trading therefore resumed.

This follows after a bomb threat was reported earlier in the day and, according to the mall’s management, emergency response and evacuation procedures were immediately activated, and the mall was swept by the police and K9 bomb detection unit.

The mall management added, “We will continue to monitor any potential threats and are currently evaluating further security measures that may enhance our current procedures to ensure incidents of this nature do not reoccur.”
