VIDEO: HeronBridge takes a dive for a good cause

NIETGEDACHT – HeronBridge College staff and children braced the cold for this year's polar bear swim in support of charity.

In the middle of a frigid Johannesburg winter, the staff and children from HeronBridge College embraced the ice and embarked on their annual polar bear swim.

It has become a tradition that the swim is inaugurated by some form of staff event. Last year they dressed up as firemen and arrived at the HeronBridge swimming pool on a thundering giant red fire truck and the money raised went to victims of the Knysna fires.

HeronBridge staff puts on a performance while dressed up as Father Christmas before this year’s swim.
The polar swim happens annually at HeronBridge College in Nietgedacht in order to raise funds for charity.

This year’s theme was inspired by Father Christmas, and the money they raised on 22 June will go towards providing sanitary pads for underprivileged girls.
