Woman attempts to buy groceries with fake money in Sunninghill

SUNNINGHILL – The woman bought groceries with a fake R200 note.

A woman has been arrested for being in possession of fake money at a retail shop in Sunninghill.

According to Sandton Police Station’s spokesperson, Captain Granville Meyer, the 24-year-old woman was arrested on 27 June after she bought groceries at the shop and paid with a fake R200 note.

“The suspect is currently in detention and will appear in court soon,” said Meyer.

Meyer discouraged community members from using fake notes as they can be identified by retailers; they will face the full might of the law if caught.
