What to expect at tonight’s World Cup matches

RUSSIA – Saudi Arabia has everything to play for tonight, while Iran has a chance to cause a major upset that could lead to Spain or Portugal going home.

Tonight (20 June) will see Uruguay play against Saudi Arabia at 5pm and Spain play against Iran at 8pm in the Fifa World Cup.

For Saudi Arabia this is a must-win match, having lost to Russia 5–0 in the opening game of the World Cup.

Uruguay have already beaten Egypt 1–0 and so another win would all but guarantee them a spot in the last 16.

The later fixture will also be interesting because while Spain are undoubtedly the favourites, they drew 3–3 against Portugal recently while Iran beat Morocco 1–0.

Therefore if Iran can manage an upset (even a draw) it would throw the group’s standings into the air and Portugal and Spain would have to wonder which of them might be going home.
