Stage 1 load shedding plunges Fourways into darkness until 8.30pm
FOURWAYS – Many suburbs within Fourways Review's distribution area are affected.
Fourways is currently experiencing the first round of Stage 1 load shedding.
This, since Eskom commenced with Stage 1 load shedding at 11:29am today (15 June).
Earlier today, the power utility said on its website that it was anticipated that the loadshedding would take place until 9pm this evening. “This is due to the impact of the current illegal protest action by some Eskom employees at various sites over wage increases,” read the media release.
“Eskom is working with all the relevant stakeholders to keep its plant operating optimally however there is a high risk of load shedding over the weekend.”
The power utility further called on consumers to reduce their electricity consumption by switching off :
- Geysers
- Electric heating
- Pool pumps
- All non-essential appliances throughout the day.
The load shedding schedules can be found on the Eskom website or at local municipalities for municipal customers.
City Power also released its loadshedding schedule on Twitter this afternoon, and much of the Fourways area will have no power until 8.30pm.
