Vadi addresses R511 concerns

FOURWAYS – Concerned residents have been worried about the roads in the area for quite some time, even hosting a public meeting in January.

 

During a visit to inspect the construction projects along the R511 on 22 May, MEC for Roads and Transport for Gauteng, Ismail Vadi, took note of the issues which have plagued the stretch of road, causing concern to residents.

The R511, also called William Nicol Drive, stretches from Fourways all the way to Diepsloot and continues towards the North West Province. Construction on the path had begun, but ground to a halt due to issues with the contractor and remains incomplete.

According to the Gauteng ANC’s official Twitter account, the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport will put a number of different measures in place in the meantime.

These include:

  • The road markings on the R114 will be repainted to be more visible to motorists
  • Illegal access from the R114 onto the R511 will be closed off as a safety precaution.
