The spokesperson for Sandton Police Station, Captain Granville Meyer, shared the crimes reported in Sunninghill and Paulshof.
“Crimes that were recently reported in the Paulshof area was a case of fraud and rape. In the Sunninghill area was a case of carjacking at a complex. We as the police have observed that carjacking is increasing in the area and we urge residents to be alert at all times.”

Meyer provided tips in order not to fall prey to carjacking:
- Physically check that your windows and doors are locked before you leave your vehicle
- Double check if your car is securely locked, do not just activate your car alarm and walk away
- Park your car in a place where there is visible security video surveillance
- If you plan to leave your car unattended, make sure you park in a busy public space
- Do not leave valuables in your car visible to criminals, make sure all valuable items are safely hidden
- When you park your vehicle in your yard make sure that it is securely locked.
