Massive Mandela Masterpiece makes history
The masterpiece was captured and tweeted by the Digital Globe.
An image of the Massive Mandela Masterpiece has been captured by the Digital Globe, which provides earth images, from outer space.
The image was tweeted from the Digital Globe’s Twitter handle at 9.46pm on Freedom Day, but was said to have been captured on 24 April.

It was met with a celebratory tweet from Carolyn Steyn, who is the founder of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day. The Massive Mandela Masterpiece is also the brainchild of Steyn’s.
The 67 Blankets for Mandela started a few years ago with the aim of knitting blankets in honour of the number of years that Mandela spent in service of his country.

The 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day’s Massive Mandela Masterpiece was unveiled at Zonderwater Correctional Facility on 24 April and is made up of over 4 000 crochet blankets.
All of the blankets were made by knitwits from all across South Africa and internationally.
