Lucky Moshimane works to help the residents of Diepsloot

The Base 5 Guard security company recently hosted a special charity event in the Diepsloot area.

The event, named the ‘Lucky Moshimane’s Homecoming’, was hosted in honour of the owner and manager of the company, Lucky Moshimane, as Diepsloot is his hometown.

“The idea for this event was born in response to President Cyril Ramaphosa‘s concerns that he raised on 10 March, when he visited Protea Glen,” Base 5 Guard said in a statement to the press.

Moshimane had met the president when he visited an ANC Parliamentary Constituency Office, one of 350 offices countrywide where members of the public can approach elected representatives with problems or concerns. The office is at the Isizwe Shopping Centre in Protea Glen, and the two men discussed the need for clean-up efforts in the community of Diepsloot. Moshimane also brought up the need for working equipment to be available for the youth desk in the Diepsloot area.

Moshimane pledged to donate 10 laptops and 10 cell phones to the desk, and also to start a clean-up campaign.

The day saw attendees visit the Family Africa Orphanage (with donations of blankets, sponges and happy meals), the Diepsloot Police Station (with donations of food toiletries and baby care products), the Saint Christopher Apostolic Church (with donations of a roof and 40 chairs), the Muzomnuhle Primary School (with donations of dustbins, rakes, spades and brooms), the Sunshine Pre-school (with more happy meals) and finally, the Vukuzenzele Old Age Home (with donations of 100 seed packs for gardening).
