7Arrows Security provides few tips for keeping safe this Valentine’s Day

FOURWAYS – It may be the month of love, but that is no reason to be slack on safety!

Valentine’s Day brings with it many different emotions, some people going all out with chocolate hearts and romantic dates and some just treating it as a normal day. Unfortunately, with such occasions sometimes people fall prey to unsavoury individuals.

7Arrows Security company provided security precautions for the month of love:

  • One rule for being security conscious is to always remain aware, be vigilant of the people around you and your surroundings

  • The above rule applies for such occasions especially as with the rush of Valentine’s Day. You become more distracted when dining out with a loved one so remember to always watch your handbag and do not leave your valuables unattended

  • Love thy neighbour, be the extra eyes and ears in your neighbourhood. If you see something suspicious call it in.

  • The internet allows us to connect with people and sometimes allows people who you would not usually come across to learn things about our lives that they normally would not. Location settings on your cellphone and social media apps let our family and friends know where we are, but also lets criminals know where we are too. Be aware of this downfall on your devices and your children’s devices as well.

  • If setting up a blind date please use keep your wits about and meet up in a public space. Let loved ones know where you are going and what time they can expect you to be home.

  • If returning home after a date late in the evening, you can ask your security company to set up a meet and greet and make sure you enter your driveway safely

  • Do not sit idle at robots or stop streets, be aware of individuals loitering in the streets and do not let your cellphone or loved one distract you while waiting for the light to turn green.

  • Do not drive under the influence of alcohol and if using a taxi app, make sure to confirm the correct person is picking you up before getting into the cab

  • When leaving your home or going to bed, make sure you arm your alarms and that doors and windows are all locked properly

  • And finally, most importantly, trust your instincts and if you feel something is not right it often is not.
