The Douglasdale police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a murder on 30 October at Kya Sands Informal Settlement.

According to the head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, the suspect was arrested at 7am as it was alleged that he stabbed a 37-year-old woman to death, who is said to be his ex-girlfriend.

“The police received information about the incident and upon arrival they found the victim lying in a pool of blood. The suspect allegedly stabbed the woman with a knife at her place in Kya Sands Informal Settlement,” Tshetlhane said.

She added that the victim sustained several stab wounds on her upper body and was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.
