Boy (10) drowns in river

FOURWAYS – ER24 said despite paramedics' best efforts, he was declared dead on the scene.

A boy, believed to be 10-years-old, drowned in a river in Fourways earlier this afternoon (21 October).

ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen said, “When ER24 arrived on the scene just after 4pm, they found the boy at the bottom of the river where they managed to get him out. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, he was declared dead on the scene.

“The exact details surrounding the incident are not yet known to our paramedics.”
